Sources of Water Pollution and Contamination

Chemicals, Fertilisers,Herbicides, Pesticides, Insecticides, Industrial Effluent..... All of these substances are produced by man to " develop" the modern world. All of thse substances contaminate our water supply. Man is tampering with nature on an increasing scale and the price we are paying now, and will continue to pay for the forseeable future, is the ensuing danger to our health. Whilst it may be possible to dismiss some pollutants as being of no real danger in small concentrations, in many cases the interaction of one chemical or toxic substance with another remains beyond the remit of many medical and scientific research programmes.

The long term effects on the human body of some of these substances is known to be harmful and others, in sufficient quantity , can be fatal. And what about the thousands of substances where the effects are still unknown ?. This problem is understood by the World Health Organisation, which defines the acceptable standard of water as being determined by the daily intake which, during an entire lifetime, appears to be without appreciable risk on the basis of all known facts at the time. Our understanding and technology is often moving at such speed that todays facts are tomorrows fiction.

A WATERSIMPLE drinking water purification system fitted in your own home to your own drinking water supply will give you the confidence of knowing that, whatever your doubts about the public water supply, the water that you and your family drink is fresh, clean and safe to drink.

More than 700 chemical contaminants have been identified in drinking water, including;

Bacteria and cysts. Bacteria can find their way into many groundwater sources from animal waste. Cryptosporidia and Giardia are cysts which have also been found in drinking water. They can cause severe stomach and digestive system disorders. Even isolated streams which you may imagine to be clean water can be contaminated by sheep droppings. These contaminants are removed by the multistage WATERSIMPLE cartridge, whose ceramic membrane is designed to remove particles and bacteria down to below one micron in size.

Nitrates, Fertilisers , herbicides and pesticides used extensively in agriculture, all wash down into our streams, rivers, lakes and other water sources. More intensive farming and new chemicals will result in more problems for our water treatment plants.
